Spotlight Power LLC is looking for a Physical Power Trader to join its growing power team based in Houston, Texas.

This position is responsible for generating income through Short Term Trading/Physical Arbitrage opportunities (intraday, next day and intramonth) and the management of transmission positions.  Spotlight is seeking an experienced physical power trader familiar with the Eastern Interconnection ISO’s and transmission markets. This role will assist in Term Physical Arbitrage Opportunities in the Eastern ISO’s, ERCOT and Bilateral Markets.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Create P&L in an electricity physical locational arbitrage book
• Analyze variables influencing power prices, availability, and reliability in both ISO and non-ISO markets
• Schedule physical and financial power within ISO’s and adjacent Control Areas
• Develop pricing models to forecast generation power supply and load
• Provide P&L and MTM exposure reports daily
• Track regional Market Design and Regulatory Changes that impact the market
• Procure short term and long-term transmission as part of an in-depth optimization strategy
• Assist the Structured Transactions group with term transmission and spread analysis
• Responsible for accurate trade entry, position management and P&L reporting
• Coordinate with the 24-hour real-time desk to ensure maximum intra company information flow and value creation

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Engineering, Business, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, or another related field
• One or more years’ experience with physical power trading between ISO’s and non-ISO markets, preferably ERCOT, PJM and ISO-NE
• Keen understanding of the power transmission grid. An understanding of power flow modeling a plus
• High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel; VBA a plus
• Strong understanding of the principles of North American Power and Gas markets a plus
• Highest degree of punctuality and reliability
• Proven ability to take appropriate action within time constraints 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Motivated self-starter with ability to work independently and as part of a team
